Etsy Shipping Calculator: Free Shipping Price and Profit

Enter what postage really costs you. This shows your profit with the shipping you charge today, and the item price you need if you offer free shipping and still want your target margin. It uses Etsy’s fee rates for your country. It does not look up carrier prices, so take the postage figure from your carrier or from the label price in Etsy.

Work out your shipping and free shipping price

The numbers below are an example. Replace them with yours.

Fee rates are the ones in our Etsy fee calculator (listing fee 0.20, transaction fee 6.5% and your country’s payment processing and regulatory rates), applied to the item price plus the shipping you charge. They exclude offsite ads, currency conversion and taxes.

How to find your real postage cost

  • Weigh the packed parcel, not the product. Packaging often decides the postage band.
  • Use the label price. When you buy a label through Etsy, it shows the price for that weight, size and destination before you pay.
  • Or ask the carrier. Every carrier has a rate calculator for its own services.
  • Add an average, not your best case. If orders go to several zones, use a typical order, not the cheapest one.

Charging for shipping or building it into the price

Etsy lets you set a fixed shipping price, or for supported carriers use calculated shipping, which works out postage from the parcel’s weight and size. Offering free shipping means the item price carries the postage, which is what the third result above works out for the margin you choose. Two things to remember: Etsy’s percentage fees apply to the shipping you charge as well as the item price, so folding shipping into the price does not avoid them, and a price that looks high next to listings that charge shipping separately can cost you clicks. Test it on one listing first.

Before you change a price, check that the listing itself is strong. The free listing checker scores a live listing and shows what is missing.

Fee rates last checked 8 September 2026 in our fee calculator. Etsy changes its fees from time to time, so confirm them in your Shop Manager.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate shipping costs on Etsy?

Weigh and measure the packed parcel, then get the postage price from your carrier or from the label price Etsy shows before you buy a label. This calculator takes that figure and shows what it does to your profit and to the price you would need for free shipping. It does not look up carrier rates itself.

Do Etsy fees apply to shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee, the payment processing fee and any regulatory operating fee are worked out on the total the buyer pays, which includes the shipping you charge. The listing fee is flat and does not depend on shipping.

Should I offer free shipping on Etsy?

It depends on the product. Free shipping hides the postage inside the price, which some buyers prefer and some listings cannot absorb. Work out the price with this calculator, compare it with similar listings and test it on one listing before changing the shop.

What is the difference between fixed and calculated shipping on Etsy?

With fixed shipping you set the price yourself. With calculated shipping, available for supported carriers, Etsy works the postage out from the parcel's weight and size and the buyer's address. Calculated shipping tracks real postage more closely, while fixed shipping is simpler to explain.

Does this calculator include taxes or offsite ads?

No. It covers the listing, transaction, payment processing and regulatory fees. Offsite ads fees, currency conversion and sales tax or VAT are not included. The Etsy fee calculator lets you add offsite ads and currency conversion.
