How to Find a Shop or Seller on Etsy

Etsy’s search box looks for products, not shops. That one design choice is why finding a specific seller is harder than it should be — and why the fastest method is not the search box at all.

The fastest way: type the address

Every Etsy shop lives at the same URL pattern:

etsy.com/shop/ShopName

Type it straight into your browser and you land on the shop, skipping search entirely. This is the most reliable method by a distance, and it is the one almost nobody is told about.

The catch that defeats most people

Etsy shop names contain no spaces. They are letters and numbers only — no spaces, dashes, underscores or punctuation of any kind, because Etsy does not permit them in the first place.

So a shop you remember as “Silver Pine Studio” is etsy.com/shop/SilverPineStudio. If you have been typing the name with spaces and getting nowhere, that is why. Close the gaps and try again before assuming the shop has closed.

If you are not sure of the spelling

Type the shop name into Etsy’s search box and look above the product results. Etsy offers a “Did you mean the shop…?” prompt when it recognises the name, and the suggestions that drop down as you type include a “find shop names containing…” option. Both jump straight to storefronts instead of listings.

You can also run the search and then apply the Shops filter on the results page, which strips out individual products and leaves only shops.

A shop you have bought from before

Do not search at all. Sign in and open Your account › Purchases and reviews. Every order you have placed is listed newest first with the shop name against it, so the shop is two clicks away and you do not need to remember how it was spelled. Opening the order also gives you the message thread tied to that purchase, which is the right way to contact the seller about it.

Why this is harder than it should be

Etsy is built to sell products, so its search indexes listings. Shops are what listings belong to rather than things the search box is really aimed at, and there is no browsable directory of Etsy shops to page through.

That is the whole reason these questions get asked so often. It is not that you are searching wrong — the feature you are reaching for is genuinely thin.

If you are a seller looking for your own shop address

Your shop URL is the same pattern as everyone else’s: etsy.com/shop/ followed by your shop name exactly as you set it, capitals and all, with no spaces. That is the link to put in your social profiles, your email signature and anything you print.

If you rename the shop, the URL follows the new name and Etsy redirects the old address, so existing links keep working — but anything you have already printed still points at a name that no longer matches your branding.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a specific shop on Etsy?

The fastest way is to type etsy.com/shop/ShopName straight into your browser, replacing ShopName with the shop's name. If you are unsure of the spelling, type the name into Etsy's search box and look above the product results for the "Did you mean the shop...?" prompt, or apply the Shops filter to the results.

Why can't I find a shop on Etsy?

Usually spaces. Etsy shop names are letters and numbers only, with no spaces, dashes or punctuation, so a shop you remember as "Silver Pine Studio" is actually SilverPineStudio. Close the gaps and try etsy.com/shop/SilverPineStudio before assuming the shop has closed.

Can you search Etsy by seller name?

Indirectly. Etsy's search box indexes listings rather than shops, but typing a shop name into it surfaces a "Did you mean the shop...?" prompt and a "find shop names containing..." suggestion, and the results page has a Shops filter that hides individual products. Typing the shop URL directly is still faster.

How do I find a shop I bought from before?

Sign in and go to Your account › Purchases and reviews. Every order is listed newest first with the shop name against it, so you do not need to remember the spelling. Opening the order also gives you the message thread tied to that purchase, which is the right way to contact the seller about it.

Does Etsy have a directory of shops?

No. There is no browsable list of Etsy shops to page through. Etsy indexes listings rather than storefronts, which is why finding a specific shop relies on knowing its name or reaching it by URL.

What is my Etsy shop URL?

It is etsy.com/shop/ followed by your shop name exactly as you set it, capitals included and with no spaces. That is the address to use in social profiles and anything you print. If you rename the shop the URL follows the new name, and Etsy redirects the old one so existing links keep working.

Sellers: this page is the reason buyers give up looking for you

Most people reading this are trying to find a shop and failing. If that shop is yours, the fix is not a better shop name — it is listings that surface in search on their own, so buyers reach you without having to remember anything. SellerMarketingTool audits what you already have live and rewrites the parts holding it back.
